Hi I'm Susana Guardado, facilitator, community builder and global learner
I currently live on the traditional territories of the Lekwungen speaking and WSÁNEĆ Peoples in Southern Vancouver Island. I hold an MA in Community Development and have worked in the field internationally and locally for the past 20 years. As a dedicated community builder, I work across differences and across cultures, creating connection with diverse stakeholders.
My background in youth work has helped me gain an extensive understanding of human dynamics and behaviour, societal issues, and organizational change. This allows me to listen deeply to help teams work through complex and difficult processes. I have worked extensively with with marginalised and vulnerable populations, developing programs that foster community voice and authentic engagement.
For many years I worked in prevention education, making spaces for people to talk about difficult topics and creating opportunity for societal change. Two decades working with young people also means I am able to create fun, engaging, and meaningful learning environments that cater to diverse audiences.
In addition to my facilitation and learning design experience, I am also a visual practitioner. I use hand drawn images to deepen understanding, increase engagement, and foster positive communication.
Originally from El Salvador, I have called Canada home since I was 17. I have had the privilege to travel and live in many countries. My path has offered me profound learning and appreciation for the world in which I live and the role I want to play in it. I look forward to creating and collaborating with you.
